Loom1801, a fashion development studio for both apparel and home products, partners with the world’s leading textile mills and production facilities to source and create unique offerings for top brands and emerging designers.

The focus at Loom1801 is to grow a brand’s DNA — first through color and elevated print ideas and then through the introduction of tailor-made fabric ideas that result in highly-novel textile constructions that align with a label’s core.

Services range from initial color and fabric inspiration to R&D, merchandising, styling and sourcing, all with the goal of supporting a more sustainable and environmentally sound future for the world of fashion and the world at large.

Inspired by industry mentor Marc Snyder’s visionary textile agency, L.O.O.M., Loom1801 also gets its name from the 1801 debut of the jacquard loom, which revolutionized fabric design and development.

INTRODUCTION

Loom1801 president Daniela Gilbert began her fashion career as a journalist, specializing in textiles at Fairchild Publications/Condé Nast for 10 years.

Learning from the best, Daniela received her textile education at WWD, where she conceptualized feature stories that took her to some of the most impressive textile mills – from fine lace makers and silk weavers in France to the best jersey, weaving and print mills in Italy.

Daniela’s interest in textile R&D emerged while working on a WWD feature story with Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein, where, in a visual timeline, she traced the designer’s textile development process. After an impassioned search, she joined DVF’s textile team in 2006. After a steady flow of R&D work, Daniela opened Loom1801 in the fall of 2014.

Today, Loom1801 helps to custom-built fashion development services that meet the needs of designers, large and small, in today’s ever-changing fashion climate.
